What is Sophdrink?

SophDrink is an art zine intended for Artists:

  • working on First drafts and in-progress projects;

  • Testing out mediums they don’t usually work in;

  • who need somewhere to promote their projects; and/or

  • looking for ways to stay creative.

Our publishing model is “Ready when its ready,” meaning once we have enough material for an issue, we publish! All you have to do is submit your work, and our zine editor will place it in one of the themed issues:

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

SUBMISSION RULES

GENERAL

  • No deadlines, all first-come, first-serve! Each issue is published 2 weeks after the meters (above) are filled! If you would like a deadline, please email us at sophdrink@gmail.com and we’ll provide one!

  • Full-length plays, scripts, or stories will not be considered; excerpts of larger written works can be submitted.

  • If the work submitted has multiple collaborators, please include the emails of each collaborator in the form.

  • The themes acts as a way for our editors to organize works together; don’t feel pressured to make or edit something that fits into the themes!

WORD COUNT MAXIMUMS:

Articles/Essays/Short Stories … Max. 3,500 words.
Reviews/Interviews … Max. 1,250 words.
Poetry … Max. 500 words.
Short Plays/Scripts/Dialogues … Max. 2,500 words.

IMAGE FILE SPECS*:

Cover Artwork … 2550px X 3300px
Page Art … Anything greater than 500px X 500px
Ad Specs … Anything greater than 500px X 500px

*Anything that does not fit into these specs will be automatically fitted into the specs of the zine during the editing process.

ACCEPTANCE & COPYRIGHT POLICY

  • All contributors must be over the age of 18 to submit.

  • SophDrink is not a financially-backed zine. We are not able to financially compensate contributors for submitted works at this time.

  • All contributors retain the copyright to all of their own works submitted, both in original or edited form. Work(s) submitted to SophDrink may be submitted elsewhere after publication, and work(s) previously published elsewhere may be submitted to SophDrink as long as the submitted work(s) have been approved for republication by the previous publisher.

  • All works submitted will be subjected to editing during the review process. All authors submitting works in progress or first drafts before the deadline will receive an email with all suggested edits and changes for approval or disapproval before the deadline; works in progress or first drafts will not be published if expressed approval or disapproval of edits are not communicated before the deadline. All authors submitting finished works will not be entitled to an email consisting of and requiring approval for edits (for typos and grammar) made to submitted works.

  • By submitting material to this zine, the submitter authorizes the use of submitted material for the promotion of the zine on its associated social media accounts. This includes written material as well as artwork, which will be credited properly.
